my first apartment in Chicago was in an old hotel on the lake. They had a parking garage that was in the ballroom. It wasn’t as beautiful as this, but it was still lovely—high ceilings, decorative moulding, light blue. I’m sure they made a boatload parking cars there, but it always made me so sad. Imagine the events that could have been held there, literally a stone’s throw from the lake!
