My tumblr is a mix of photos, quotes and articles I like, daily bits from my life, and work I've done. I use Tumblr as a platform to create something that toes the line among an online scrapbook, traditional blog, and Twitter. This tumblr was started in the days of Christian Siriano Project Runway when only two people were reading, hence the ridiculous title.

» Why American Airlines' user experience fails: idsgn (a design blog)

laurao:

A designer, Dustin Curtis, mocks up how American Airlines could improve their notoriously bad website.

Before:

And after:

It’s worth clicking through to read the response from American Airlines. As someone who has struggled with this particular website, I appreciated the candor from American in response.

When I search Kayak and discover that I’ll be flying AA due to costs or times, I’ll still come back and do all my searching for potential times and whatnot on Kayak, rather than dealing with the AA site. Worst site on Planet Earth

My parents’ 34th wedding anniversary was June 1. Every year my mom puts on her wedding dress as part of the anniversary celebration. She’s the best.
That’s cute. Quite the dress! I think your mom needs to write some sort of healthy living book, too, if she’s managed to stay the exact same size for 34 years.
Yay Mrs. O! (Or S.?)

Sorry for the erratic posting...

nickgerber:

So, my girlfriend has become my ex. She doesn’t approve of me posting it on tumblr, but somehow facebook is ok? Anyway, many mixed emotions, but overall a sense of relief I think. I’m moving into a place with the one and only Frank. We looked at a place today that was in every single way awesome, except that it’s what is technically “east garfield park” off the california green line. Sooooooo essentially we’d never be able to do shoots, because our talent/hair/makeup/rented equipment very well may never see the inside of the apartment. I don’t mind sketchy neighborhoods, but I know a LOT of people that do, so … for the sake of having a social life, I think we’re gonna have to keep looking.

Here essentially the req’s

Loft space (high ceilings, open floor plan - ideally 1300+sq ft)

2 bedrooms (with full ceilings)

A working bathroom

Under $1400 would be… stupendous.

Pluses include being dog friendly. Anyone got any ideas?

I can’t edit my answer to the other one apparently, but actually, I (unbelivably) know a place that fits all of the requirements, which is insane. I don’t know if it’s still available. Racine and 18th. It was sort of dumpy—you’d need to paint and such, but it had three bedrooms and a basketball court in the living space/loft area (e.g., it was enormous).

It’s the 40th anniversary of “One small step for man and a giant leap for mankind”, to mark the date house of Louis Vuiton hired Annie Leibovitz once again to shoot and direct an advert for their 2009. Louis Vuitton - Core Values Luggage and Travel campaign. This time LV is teaming up astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell and Sally Ride for a shoot in California desert with the legendary photographer. Aldrin made history in 1969 being with Neil Armstrong the first men to stop on the Moon, Sally Ride was the first American woman to enter space aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger while Lowell was comander of the Apollo 13. Print advert is scheduled to appear in July issues of top fashion glossies, and to coexist with the print campaign on July 2nd Louis Vuitton will launch louisvuittonjourneys.com, which will feature interviews with stars of the campaign and behind the scenes videos. 1. This is pretty wonderful.

2. How amazing that this was only 40 years ago, no?

3. Isn’t it crazy that people actually walked on the moon?!

“ In March of this year, National Public Radio (NPR) revealed that by the end of 2008, 23.6 million people were tuning into its broadcasts each week. In fact, NPR’s ratings have increased steadily since 2000, and they’ve managed to hold on to much of their 2008 election coverage listenership bump (with over 26 million people tuning in each week so far in 2009), unlike many of their mainstream media counterparts. Compared to cable news, where most networks are shedding viewers, and newspapers, where circulation continues to plummet, NPR is starting to look like they have the future of news all figured out. Or at least, they appear to doing a lot better at it than the rest of the traditional media. But what is NPR doing differently that’s causing their listener numbers to swell? They basically have a three-pronged strategy that is helping them not only grow now, but also prepare for the future media landscape where traditional methods of consumption (TV, radio, print) could be greatly marginalized in favor of digital distribution. „

Why NPR is the Future of Mainstream Media

I shared this on reader but also thought it was worth sharing here. I was thinking today that I ought to give npr a donation since, I think, that in the last month, on my own time, at least, I’ve listened to NPR more than I’ve read magazines or newspapers or watched TV (or even TV on the internet). My listening of NPR has picked up dramatically in 2009, and this article gives a few insights into why this is happening.

Colour management recommendation

As per Jeff Cagle’s request, I am reposting this info from my pro blog, where it was posted last week. Please do this; it helps so much.

I was recently using a computer when I noticed that the photos on my blog were looking really disappointing. Washed-out, blah, and lacking the life that I saw when I was editing them in Photoshop. I took a peek on another computer, and saw that they were looking as lovely as they did in my desktop programs. After a little consultation and research, I learned that my preferences in Firefox were not managing colour correctly. Is your browser set up to display the true images? Several of my friends’ weren’t, and after completing a few simple steps, we were relieved and excited to see images on my blog (and across the internet) as they were meant to be viewed.

To ensure your computer is displaying the right colours, just follow these simple instructions. Note that these work only in Firefox, and only in versions 3+. (Sidebar: If you aren’t using Firefox, please download it. It is free and wonderful.)

  • Type “about:config” into the address bar
  • Find “gfx.color_management”
  • Double click until it switches from “false” to “true”
  • Restart Firefox
